Shoot Score

Overview

The Shoot Score is a single number from 0 to 10 that summarises how good the conditions are for photography — now, or at the next golden hour, blue hour or sunrise. It weighs the forecast the way your style of photography cares about it.

Accessing Shoot Score

Environment tab → Shoot Score

Or tap the score card on the Environment screen, or see the summary card on the Dashboard.

Tap the location name at the top to score a different saved location.

Choosing When to Score

The row above the dial chooses the moment: Now, Golden Hour and Blue Hour while they’re still to come today, and tomorrow’s Sunrise. The line beneath says when it’s scored for, and the advice below is written for that moment.

What Is Displayed

Score Dial The overall score out of 10, with its band.

Scored for The shoot style the score is weighted for — Landscape, Wildlife, Portrait, Night Sky or Custom. Tap it to choose another; the score updates at once. The weights for each style are in Settings → Preferred Conditions.

Score Breakdown Each part of the score — cloud cover, wind, precipitation and visibility — with the ones costing the most points first, then any golden hour bonus.

Photography Advice What the forecast means for the shoot, quoting the numbers it comes from — “Overcast (90% cloud)…”, “Strong wind (50 km/h)…”. Tips have a light bulb; anything to watch out for, such as strong wind or likely rain, has an orange warning sign.

Light & Sky Today’s golden hour, in the location’s own time, the moon and whether the Milky Way is visible.

Condition Alerts Your upcoming bookings at outdoor locations, each with a switch for its own poor-conditions warning. The time it arrives and the score that triggers it are in Settings → Alert Timing.

If there’s no location to score, the screen says No Location and offers Choose a Location. If the forecast couldn’t be loaded, it says No Forecast with Try Again.

Interpreting the Score

Score Range	Meaning
9–10	Excellent — prime shooting conditions
7–8	Good — worth shooting, strong conditions
5–6	Fair — some useful light or conditions
3–4	Poor — limited photographic value
0–2	Very Poor — consider rescheduling

The same bands are used everywhere a shoot score appears — on a booking, on a location and on your widgets.
