Tides
Overview
The Tides module shows three days of tide predictions for any coastal location, lists every high and low water, and picks out the low tides worth photographing — the ones that fall in daylight, and best of all in golden or blue hour.

What Is Displayed
Station At the top: the tide station the predictions come from and how far away it is — “Predictions for Liverpool Gladstone Dock, 2.1 km away” — and a note when times are in the station’s time zone rather than yours.
Next Photography Window The answer first: the next low tide you can photograph — “Tomorrow, low water at 7:03” — with how much of it falls in golden or blue hour, when interesting foreground features (rocks, sand patterns, tidepools) are exposed.
Tide at 14:02 The height of the water right now, whether it’s rising or falling, and when the next high or low water comes.
Tide Chart The predicted height over three days. A dashed line marks now, low tides in daylight are shaded, and the next high and low water are labelled with their time and height. High water is blue and low water sand-coloured, throughout the screen.
More Photography Windows The rest of the daylight low tides in the three days, with their times — “Fri 16 Oct, 7:03 – 8:03” — and how long each lasts.
Upcoming Tides Every high and low water still to come, grouped by day — “Today”, “Tomorrow”, “Fri 16 Oct” — with its time and height.
Changing Location
Tap the location name at the top to choose any of your saved locations. The screen updates to the nearest tide prediction station.
On Current Location, tides show when you’re within 10 km of a tide station. Further from the coast, the screen says so and offers Choose a Location.
Pick a day with the date control to see that day’s tides instead of today’s.
Tide heights vary significantly even over short distances, especially in estuaries or complex coastlines. Always cross-reference with local tide tables for critical shoots.
Being Cut Off by the Tide
For a coastal location where the water can strand you, set a Safe Height on the location. Bookings there then show when the tide reaches it, how long that leaves you, and when it drops back — see Tide Cut-Off.
